The problem with clowns is that it’s easy to dismiss them as a joke — but if you do that with Insane Clown Posse, then the joke’s on you. With record sales in the multi-millions and a loyal fanbase that is comparable only to that of the Grateful Dead, the Juggalo juggernaut has been trucking for 25 + years, and shows no sign of slowing down.

Much maligned and misunderstood, the band and the fan-created “Juggalo” world that surrounds them, are steeped in controversy — much of it being caused perhaps by over-literal interpretations of their tongue-in-cheek horrorcore lyrics. However, despite much-publicized brushes with the law, for many in the Juggalo community, Insane Clown Posse’s Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope are seen as saviors rather than sinners — their inclusive philosophy serving as a lifeline.

Very much in sympatico with the ethos of SuicideGirls, those in Insane Clown Posse’s world celebrate the strange, the weird, and the fucked up — and have an innate understanding that it’s these differences which make us beautiful. The Gathering of the Juggalos serves as a visceral illustration of this. Now in its 17th year, the Lollapalooza-like event — which takes place this year from July 20th thru 23rd at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio — is a family reunion for the disenfranchised and a festival for those from all walks of life who feel a need to get their freak-on.

Earlier this year, SuicideGirls caught up with Violent J (left), Shaggy 2 Dope (right), and Young Wicked (center) on their tour bus, in a nondescript parking lot somewhere near LAX. Read the full interview here.

About Turquoise Noise

Turquoise Noise is a Los Angeles-based, 5-piece alt-rock outfit with a penchant for spooky grooves and soaring choruses. The lineup features lead vocalist and frontman Evan Snyder, who provides searing, lush melodies and hypnotic call-to-action lyrics. Guitarists Brandon Villa and Bryce Darrow layer chiming rhythms and cutting melodic leads, while drummer Destin Rogers and bassist Brendan Snyder provide a strutting backbone to the whole. Turquoise Noise recently recorded their anticipated self-titled full-length debut at Lavish Studios, owned and operated by the late Scott Weiland, who graciously invited the band to make their record in his private studio and open his sold out homecoming show at the El Rey Theatre in June of 2015. Poised for festival stages worldwide, their live show evokes an atmosphere of driving rock n’ roll and an urgent need to shake your bones. The album’s opening track, “Tabula Rasa”, recently received national radio airplay on 95.5 KLOS, preceding their packed out debut performance in Hollywood. The new sound is upon us.

About The Diana DeMuth Band

Diana DeMuth made it to the live shows on The X Factor a few years back and decided singing cover songs just wasn’t the right direction for her. She walked away from the show to continue her pursuit of a career in the music industry, her way. Since then, she has formed a band with some of the industry’s most talented female musicians. Every member of this exceptionally talented all-female band has a star-studded résumé. They are currently working with industry veteran Mick Rossi to release their first EP, titled The Doorway, due out late July.

The Diana DeMuth Band are:

Diana DeMuth (vocals) is a driven 22-year-old singer/songwriter from Concord, Massachusetts who is ready to leave her mark on the music industry. DeMuth is a storyteller whose thoughtful lyrics create endearing and compelling narratives that she brings to life with an earthy voice that is mature beyond her years.

Demuth started writing songs in fifth-grade thanks to the encouragement from her guitar teacher and hasn’t stopped since. She recorded her first EP at only fourteen years old. DeMuth was a 2013 contestant on The X Factor. On a whim, during a layover in Colorado, DeMuth auditioned for the show, eventually making it through to the celebrity judges round in front of Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato, and Britney Spears and into the Top 30. DeMuth, being anything but a cover artist, ultimately decided that the show’s vibe didn’t click with her singer/songwriter soul.

During her sophomore year of music college, DeMuth’s free spirit and creativity felt too stifled, and she decided to leave to dedicate herself fully to pursuing her dream. Her priority was to write an album from start to finish and release it on her own, a project called Albuquerque, which became her debut album. The past few months all of her efforts have been working towards the release The Doorway EP with her incredible new full band.

Ariana Powell (lead guitar) is a powerful musician that slays on her solos. Powell has played behind a number of notable artists including Nick Jonas, Will.i.AM, the Black Eyed Peas, Pia Mia, Isac Ellit, Megan Nicole, Dumblonde (Aubrey O’Day and Shannon Bex of Danity Kane) and Tarrayln Ramsey.

Nicole Row (bass) spent last year performing with Kaya Stewart on the 2015 Van’s Warped Tour and recorded bass for Dan Farber’s new solo album.

Shaundrin “Drin” Elliot (keys) is a music composition graduate of the prestigious Birmingham-Southern College. She has performed at numerous music festivals such as SXSW, Deep Ellum Arts Festival, and Dallas Pride, as well as serving as lead accompanist for a special service honoring President Jimmy Carter.

Fer Fuentes (drums) is from Curico, Chili and has performed with many successful musicians including Debbie Gibson, Abraham Laboriel, and Oscar Hernandez.
