About Stephen Bradley
Stephen Bradley plays the trumpet, keyboard, and sings in the band No Doubt. Influenced by Level 42, A Tribe called Quest, Stevie Wonder, and The Beatles. Born in Richmond, California, he grew up wanting to play the drums. Because his school band already had three drummers, he decided to play the trumpet because “I knew it only had three valves so I figured [the trumpet] was simplistic enough and would be easy to pick up…it’s one of the hardest instruments to play.”
When Phil Jordan left No Doubt in 1995 to go back to school, Stephen stepped in. This was after the recording of Tragic Kingdom. However, No Doubt was not his first band. Two of the bands Stephen contributed to were Dizzybam and The Good Life, which were local Bay Area bands. Stephen also collaborated with long-time friend and producer Dave Tweedie under the pseudonym Chocolate O’Brian, released a self-titled album, and went on to produce many up and coming Bay Area acts.
Stephen has recently moved to Los Angeles where he his active doing session work, writing, and performing with his new live project Mr.Etienne. Stephen has produced music for various TV projects (American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, Superstars of Dance, Bernie Mac) and works with a variety of recording artists (Flipsyde, Akon, No Doubt). He was also part of the Smashing Pumpkins’ 20th anniversary tour alongside longtime friend and musician Gabrial McNair.
Stephen has recorded with No Doubt, Green Day, Gwen Stefani, Sugar Ray as well as performing with Outkast, The Black Eyed Peas, The Specials, Sly and Robbie, Sting, Bounty Killer, Eve, Phantom Planet, Josh Groban, Shirley Manson, Katy Perry,(members of) Incubus, and Lady Saw.
His new music project is called Mr.Etienne. Look out for a single entitled “Over and Out” this summer.
