Although they are a newer band, both TommyD and Jamie Scott of Graffiti6 have had successful careers in music in the past, Jamie as lead singer of Jamie Scott and the Town (2 albums on 2 major labels), and TommyD, a Producer/DJ who has worked with everyone from Jay-Z and Kanye West to Kylie and Janet Jackson. Interesting fact: he also produced Right Said Fred’s “I’m Too Sexy” – the pop classic that topped the charts in 20 countries. The two met for a one-off writing session and out of that session came the track “Stare Into The Sun,” which was picked last summer as the song played in The Sun’s television ad. With that, Graffiti6 was born. Their new album Colours is out now.
About Aleister X & Andrew WK
White of face and black of heart, international man of misery, Aleister X, returns with The Git, a new EP of morose club bangers on Andrew W.K.’s Steev Mike label, that follows last year’s debut, Bangers & Beans.
Born in Goa, raised by Brit ex-pats in a proto-trance commune called Tollinger Lane, and currently dividing his time between Kingston, Brooklyn and Tokyo, Aleister X is a world traveller in his own mind, a lone wanderer with a rain cloud hanging perpetually over his head. The Git (which is available only on digital downerload) descends further into the gloom of Aleister X as he haunts pubs, clubs, beach bars and lidos, a bad vibe in search of a good time.
The Aleister X hex struck again as preparations were made to shoot an upcoming promo clip for the title track off The Git in a remote island locale. The shoot turned into a real life episode of Lost. Expecting to be led into hair and make-up, Aleister X found himself chained to a radiator in an abandoned building, and all on his lonesome (see video above).
Describing his new E.P Aleister X said “I like to call the sound of ‘The Git’ E.P, ‘Trip Rap’. We’ve got a fresh sound here, full of laid back beats, pumping basses, popping poly rhythms, quality rhymes, real vocals, anthemic chorus and dark-humored mystery.”
