So, last week’s post sucked. You know it, I know it. Let’s move on. This week’s isn’t much better, but it’s still better. A simple list of some cool stuff you should check out.
Papi Fimbers is my favorite musician in Portland, and his solo project is amazing.
2. Rome
I’m sorry, I can’t hear you over my ear orgasm. Did you say Norah Jones, Jack White, and Danger Mouse are teaming up with Italian film composer Daniele Luppi? *Sploosh*
3. Besties
For my birthday party this year, my friends and I are going to record a live album with these guys. And yeah, I’m kinda bragging about it, but whatever. This music is the shit.
4. Spectacle: Elvis Costello With…
Because I’m mostly poor, I don’t have cable. And since I’m busy, I don’t watch television when it’s being broadcasted. Hence why I’m just finding out about this show on Netflix. The great Elvis Costello plays live songs and hosts interviews with people like Lou Reed, Elton John, and even Bill Clinton. A perfect way to end the day if you’re an audiophile.
Marvelously designed and featuring writers like Jonathan Frazen and Joyce Carol Oates – just holding a copy makes you feel better from the tip of your toes to the frontal-lobe of your brain.
6. Roseanne
Speaking of Netflix, Roseanne is now available, and if you’re like me, you probably remember watching it as a kid, but seeing it as an adult is a whole new perspective. I honestly didn’t understand how ground-breaking, funny, and honest the show was for its time. It remains one of the only sitcoms that portrays the American working class the way it really is – complicated, unresolved, and often sad.
The piece linked above is about the continuing struggles of women in the arts. A great article by a terrifically talented woman. A must read.

8. Yours Truly
A neat video documentation project out of San Francisco that welcomes bands to perform. Fine quality, excellent bands, and good production. It’s always great to see projects like this happen around the country.
A collectible trading card game featuring low-brow artists is cool enough in itself, but one that features special Kozik screen-prints and limited edition Ron English stickers is completely fucking rad. I know you’re supposed to swap these with friends and use them to talk about art, but I’m probably going to just hang them all over my wall.
Well, that’s all folks. That’s right, too lazy to even make it a Top 10 list. Next week’s post will be good, I think. Later, bitches.
