About Lina Esco
Lina’s first acting gig was in 2005 in the acclaimed indie film, London, starring Jessica Biel, Chris Evans and Jason Statham. She then went on to play Jimmy Smits daughter in the controversial CBS series Cane. She was then cast in the international coming-of-age film, LOL starring alongside Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore. Lina produced and directed PSA’s for the Academy Award-winning Best Documentary of 2009, The Cove, entitled “My Friend is…” to bring awareness to the annual slaughter of dolphins in Taiji, Japan. In 2012 Lina finally stepped up to direct and star in her first feature film. Free The Nipple is based on a true story of two women who start a revolution to reverse the backwards censorship laws in America.
About Free The Nipple
Today, in the USA it is illegal for a woman to be topless in 37 states. In New York City, in 1992 it became legal to be topless in public, but the NYPD continued to arrest women. Lina Esco believes these laws do not reflect the dream upon which the United States was founded. So she took to the streets with her fearless cast, a film crew and armies of topless women to end this insane war on women’s boobs!
The first week she started shooting, her film turned into a “real life” revolution of topless women, activists and graffiti artists invading the streets of NYC fighting for our First Amendment rights. Lina shot the whole film, but still needs $250,000 to pay for post production costs which she is looking to crowdfund. She hope that with your help she can complete the movie, and in a perfect world — decriminalize the “female nipple” in all 50 states.
By supporting, Free The Nipple you become part of the real life revolution. Together we can free our country from these backward censorship laws that force police to arrest women for breastfeeding their child in public or for being topless on a beach. Isn’t it time we had new laws to de-criminalize the “female nipple” in America?
