MAKES ME HAPPY: Love, smiles, care, snow, chocolate, friends, my dog, play, dreams, new things, tomorrow, new shoes, flowers, pin-up art, my cats, my iPhone, the ocean, my mum, warm weather, watermelon, vintage clothes shopping, road trips, circus arts, beautiful women, and the list goes on and on…
MAKES ME SAD: When people don’t appreciate what they have, violence against animals, that I can’t imagine life without cell phones, misunderstandings, people who pretend to understand and don’t, hate, homelessness, some songs, fake friends, racist people, people picking on others to feel better about themselves, when vacation is over…
DC and Marvel have both made major announcements recently concerning the pricing of their comics. Seems the companies have more-or-less simultaneously decided to drop the price of many of their more expensive titles starting in 2011.
The move will see more than 80% of DC’s ongoing series drop priced at $2.99 (instead of $3.99). Days after DC made their announcement, Marvel also confirmed upcoming reductions on an as yet to be named “select” group of existing titles, as well as new books debuting in 2011.
The move sent a wave of relief over many financially strapped comic book connoisseurs, but let’s dig down deeper into the price adjustments to see if DC and Marvel really have the fan or the bottom line at heart with this recession-proofing move.
WHY: It’s no secret that applying liquid eyeliner flawlessly requires a lot of practice and patience. However, the result can be some seriously sultry bedroom eyes.
“I’m just going to have to accept that maybe I’m funky.”
– Sia Furler
Having come to the attention of the KCRW-listening, latte-sipping music intelligentsia thanks to her turns with English post-trip-hop outfit Zero 7, for a while Sia was inadvertently defined by what was initially intended as a very limited, no-strings-attached guest spot with the lush lounge combo. Thanks to the success of Zero 7’s debut album Simple Things (2001), and their follow up release, When It Falls (2004), and the numerous international tours that followed, Sia’s personal brand became synonymous with the downtempo pigeonhole Zero 7 prominently occupied.
MAKES ME HAPPY: Surprises, singing in my car, driving far away, snail mail from friends, soft furry animals (real or stuffed), World of Warcraft (even though I quit), helicopter rides, lying in green grass watching clouds pass, learning something new, stargazing, burning things in a fire, beer.
MAKES ME SAD: Animal cruelty.
HOBBIES: Sports: snowboarding (more like passion), field hockey, ice hockey, ball hockey, rollerblading.
5 THINGS I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT: I hate people that are glued to their phones. I am NOT, but I can’t leave home without it (and some chapstick).
VICES: The chocolate from kinder eggs – I just toss the toys >:)

Hello SuicideGirls! It’s been a while! But I’m back. As some of you may recall, I used to do a regular “Hardcore Zen” blog here at SG on all manner of topics relating to Zen. I’m a Zen Buddhist monk and I just published my forth book, Sex, Sin and Zen.
