There are many milestones one encounters in life when heading down the road to becoming a daily user of marijuana. The first time you ever smoked. That first trip to the head shop to buy your own pipe. Which would inevitably be followed by the first time your parent’s found your pipe; Who could have imagined your mom could have penetrated the impregnable fortress of the back of your underwear drawer, right?

The only thing worse than mom and dad finding your Zig Zags is the first time your parent’s found your stash. That’s the “Oh, shit!” moment. You’re thinking, “Oh, shit! I’m, so busted!” Your parents are thinking, “Oh, shit! Do I still have the record player and that Dark Side of the Moon album?”

Outwardly, they must punish you and explain that drugs are bad, have no positive role in society, and will be a dead end in your life. But on the inside, they are secretly waiting for your next sleepover at a friend’s house so they can re-live their glory days, thanks to your freshly confiscated grass. In reality, the legal status of marijuana is the only thing stopping a majority of parents out there from enjoying it in their free time.

“I like the alternative dark humor.”
– Paul Lieberstein

I love talking to guys like Paul Lieberstein. Currently he is a writer/producer/actor on the hit NBC sitcom The Office. As Toby, the laconic and divorced human resources director of Dunder Mifflin he is constantly butting heads with the idiotic Dunder Mifflin Regional Manager Michael Scott [played by Steve Carell]. Lieberstein is already responsible for many of the series’ best episodes such as “Dwight’s Speech” which includes Dwight’s Hitleresque rant and “The Client” where the office workers have a table read of Michael’’s secret screenplay. But I first saw Lieberstein’’s name as a writer/producer on the primetime cartoon series King of the Hill which is one of the greatest shows ever on television.

Lumo Suicide in A Simple Heart

  • INTO: Martial arts, movies, reading, plastic, bright colors, fluffy stuff, haiku, driving alone, freckles (yummy).
  • NOT INTO: Sports, running (why??), public bathrooms, pick-up lines, washing dishes.
  • MAKES ME HAPPY: The smell of newly mown grass, coffee, wind, stretching, very good food, pretty undies, my special cup, lists to organize my head.
  • MAKES ME SAD: Mornings, Jacob Zuma-well, politics in general.
  • HOBBIES: Kung Fu.
  • 5 THINGS I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT: I have to choose only 5??????????????????? MY STUFF, ALL of it!
  • VICES: Bad temper, hate mornings…a lot. Did I mention mornings? Bad electrical juju, bad spelling, grammar and typing (you may have noticed).
  • I SPEND MOST OF MY FREE TIME: Anime and avid series watching. Sadly I have the typical girly trait of loving shopping.
